An Informal Introduction to Centering Prayer |
Deepen your spiritual life this Advent with an introduction to the practice of Centering Prayer on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the little chapel in the Formation Center at St. John the Apostle Church in North Richland Hills. Tom Uhler of Contemplative Outreach-Fort Worth and a St. John's parishioner will explain the practice in an informal setting and facilitate a 20-minute prayer session. "Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship, " according to Fr. Thomas Keating, a Trappist monk and founder of Contemplative Outreach.
The informal introduction will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 13 in the Formation
Center at 4101 Frawley Street north of St. John the Apostle school. For more
